The public need for automatic doors is serious. As I said in my post Techno-world Part 3: Dead-end Thinking in the ‘Communication Detours’ category, I’m surprised they aren’t part of the fire code. Every human being should be able to get in and out of a public place independently! If this means the price of automatic doors will have to go down, then it should! If  they were required in all public places, demand would go up, right? So price could go down without a problem, right? But I doubt that frantic people caught in a fire situation are going to stop and hold the door for wheelchair users. And probably no one except a family member or close friend who happened to be there would grab the person out of the chair and carry him/her. C’mon. It is and has to be a fend-for-yourself situation. And everyone deserves the dignity of independence.
